The #1 Underused Tactic For Selling More Products

It’s a new year and my question for you is, do you have a plan for selling more products in your business?

Most people don’t and just wing it when the new year starts; sporadically making offers on a whim or worse, making none.

If you want to make as much money as you can this year, you need a product launch plan or a promotional calendar.

All big and successful businesses do this and know exactly what products are being sold and when each year.

Doing this will help you tailor your content when a launch is coming up and make more money in your business (because you’re actually offering your people things to buy).

You Will Learn:

  • How often to sell to your email list
  • What products to offer them (even if you don’t have a lot of products)
  • How to plan out your promotional calendar

Let’s dive in!

How Often We Should Sell To Our Lists

As a bare minimum, I would recommend doing sales promotions to your email list at least quarterly (i.e. March, June, September, December) and no more than once per month (i.e. 3 weeks of value emails, then 1 offer week).

In my experience, somewhere in that range is the sweet spot for getting steady sales while not burning out your list.

The last thing we want to do is be the person that sells in every email which will cause people to unsubscribe or stop opening our emails altogether.

On the flip side, we also don’t want to be the person that never promotes to our list and instead statically sends new content without offering anything. That’s how we don’t make money.

Really, it depends on what you’re offering, your relationship with your list, and what feels right for you.

It may take some experimenting but this will give you a good rhythm between adding value to your list and making sales without burning them out.

Now you know how often to promote products, that creates a new question…

“What products am I going to sell to them?!”

Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered (even if you don’t have products yet).

Product Ideas You Can Sell To Your List

When it comes to selling your knowledge online, you have a handful of options

You can sell:

  • Online Courses
  • Physical Books
  • Ebooks
  • Coaching
  • Masterminds
  • Membership Sites
  • Even Retreats

Depending on the size of your business right now, you may already have a full suite of products to offer. If you’re not there yet, I would recommend focusing on just one of these until it’s bringing in solid revenue, THEN building another until THAT product is bringing in sales.

For example, if you’re just starting out, you can sell 1-1  coaching packages. When you’re confident with that, you can convert that 1-1 process into an online course and add that to your product suite.

Be a professional and focus on one offer at a time.

Currently, in my business, I have 4 core products:

  • Business Course (launching soon)

In 2023, I’m going to promote one product every quarter to my list.

If you don’t have any courses, books, or enough people to start a membership site, just focus on promoting your 1-1 coaching.

Private coaching is great because it allows you to charge a premium, get your clients the best results possible, and you can start coaching people right now.

If that’s where you’re at, offer free coaching calls to your list every 1-3 months then enroll them into your program from there.

Now that you know how often to sell to your list and have some product ideas to promote, it’s time to plan out your promotional calendar.

Creating Your Promotional Calendar

The first thing we want to do is decide on what products you are going to offer and when you’re going to offer them.

Let’s use my 4 core products as an example…

If I'm promoting a product every quarter, I could do my Kajabi Affiliate Offer in March, Productivity Course in June, Business Course in September, and a Coaching Bundle in December for Black Friday.

The following year, I can mix this up or promote a new product each year (which we should do btw).

There’s no wrong or right way to do this unless you don’t offer anything at all, that’s wrong.

It’s just a matter of just deciding what product(s) you’re going to offer and when throughout the year, mapping it out on your calendar, and sticking to it.

As long as your email list is steadily growing each and every month and you do this, you’re going to make more money in your business.
